Frequently Asked Questions

What is the ICF Mentor Coaching Specialization (MCS)?

The ICF Mentor Coach Specialization recognises specialized preparation in mentor coaching. It complements an eligible ICF credential; it does not replace that credential and is awarded independently by ICF.

How many mentor coaching education hours does this programme provide?

ICF's Standard MCS Path currently requires 41 hours of aligned mentor coaching education, with at least 50% completed synchronously, plus applicable evaluation training. Ask Morphosis for the current ACMC curriculum mapping and completion evidence for the MCS level you intend to pursue.

What is the difference between mentor coaching and coaching supervision?

Mentor coaching develops coaching skills through observation and feedback aligned with ICF competencies and credential-level criteria. Coaching supervision takes a broader reflective view of professional practice, including relationships, ethical questions and systemic context.

What do I receive after completing ACMC?

Participants meeting the programme requirements receive the Advanced Certificate in Mentor Coaching from Morphosis Coaching Academy. The ICF MCS is a separate specialization awarded by ICF after it confirms an applicant's eligibility, education and applicable evaluation training. Completing ACMC does not automatically award the ICF MCS.

Can I pay in instalments?

The Standard Path costs EUR 2,500 in full or six monthly payments of EUR 455. The Prior Learning Path costs EUR 750 in full. See our payment and cancellation policy.

What is the difference between ACMC Standard Path and Prior Learning Path?

ICF's Standard MCS Path currently requires 41 hours of aligned education, at least 50% completed synchronously, and applicable evaluation training. Its Credit for Prior Learning Path requires 10 hours of aligned education, applicable evaluation training, and qualifying recent experience with at least five mentor coaching clients who meet ICF's published criteria. ACMC offers preparation routes for these paths, but ICF independently assesses every application.

What credential do I need to enrol?

For an ICF MCS application, ICF currently requires an active PCC or MCC credential, or a renewed ACC credential. The MCS level available corresponds to the credential level you have earned, and ICF makes the final eligibility decision. Contact Morphosis for the programme's enrolment review.

How is this programme delivered?

Fully live online via MS Teams over six months. The programme includes three intensive workshops, supervised mentor coaching practice with a minimum of three clients, receiving mentor coaching on your own practice, and monthly peer learning sessions.

What does the practicum involve?

Participants practise mentor coaching with real clients, review observed or recorded coaching, apply relevant evaluation criteria, and provide structured developmental feedback. Ask Morphosis for the current practicum and evidence requirements for your pathway.

How am I assessed?

Morphosis assessment is integrated throughout the programme and may include observed or recorded mentor coaching and faculty feedback against the programme standards. This is separate from ICF's independent review of an MCS application.

Does the ICF MCS require an exam?

ICF states that the MCS does not require a separate exam. Applicants must still complete the applicable evaluation training for the MCS level sought and satisfy the other published eligibility requirements.

How many participants are in each cohort?

Each cohort is limited to a maximum of 12 participants. This intentionally small cohort size ensures depth of engagement, individualised feedback, and a rich cross-cultural learning experience.

Who is this programme not suitable for?

This programme is not designed for beginner coaches. Participants need sufficient coaching experience to engage meaningfully in observation, evaluation and developmental feedback. Coaches intending to apply for the ICF MCS should also confirm that they hold an active PCC or MCC credential, or a renewed ACC credential.
